Frequently Asked Questions
Common questions about our RF products
Are your repeaters legal to use in Belgium/EU? +
Our professional digital band-selective repeaters are designed for operator-approved installations. We provide professional-grade equipment designed for operator-approved installations. Consumer-grade boosters have specific regulations that vary by country.
What's the difference between analog and digital repeaters? +
Digital band-selective repeaters offer adjustable bandwidth (0.2-20 MHz), multi sub-band support, and LCD/WiFi management. They provide superior performance and flexibility compared to traditional analog repeaters.
Can the SDR platform be customized for my application? +
Yes, our SDR platforms support custom firmware development. We can provide modified configurations for specific frequency ranges, channel counts, and signal processing requirements.
Do you offer installation services? +
Yes, we provide site survey, system design, installation, and commissioning services in Belgium and neighboring countries. We also offer remote technical support for self-installation.

GaN Power Amplifiers
Gallium Nitride amplifiers deliver superior efficiency and power density for base station and signal distribution applications. Our range covers 400 MHz to 6 GHz with output powers from 5W to 200W. GaN technology reduces thermal load and operating costs compared to traditional LDMOS solutions, while providing wider instantaneous bandwidth.
Distributed Antenna Systems (DAS)
For large venues requiring uniform coverage — hospitals, airports, shopping centers, stadiums — we design and deploy DAS solutions using fiber-optic or hybrid backbones. Our DAS designs support multi-operator, multi-band configurations and are scalable from single-floor deployments to campus-wide networks. We coordinate directly with Proximus, Orange, and Telenet/BASE for Belgian deployments.
Case Study: Shopping Center In-Building Coverage
Client
Major Belgian Retail Group
Location
Brussels Region
Area
45,000 m² + underground parking
Challenge
A major shopping center with 200+ retail units and 3 levels of underground parking had severe indoor coverage issues. Customer complaints about dropped calls and inability to use mobile payment systems were increasing. The center's steel-reinforced concrete structure and metallized glass facade attenuated signals by up to 35 dB.
Solution
Rays Technology designed a hybrid solution using digital band-selective repeaters for the retail floors and a mini-DAS for the underground parking levels. The system supports all three Belgian operators (Proximus, Orange, Telenet/BASE) across 4G and 5G bands. Remote monitoring via cloud NMS enables proactive maintenance.

Frequently Asked Questions
Is it legal to install a cellular repeater in Belgium?
Yes, but repeaters must meet local technical specifications and not cause interference to the macro network. We help ensure your installation meets applicable requirements.
How much does in-building coverage cost?
Costs vary significantly based on building size, complexity, and the number of operators to support. A digital repeater for a small office (500 m²) starts around €3,000-5,000 installed. A DAS for a large venue (50,000+ m²) typically ranges from €50,000-200,000. We provide free site surveys and detailed quotations.
Can your SDR platform be used for 5G research?
Absolutely. Our 8T8R SDR platform supports frequencies up to 6 GHz with 200 MHz instantaneous bandwidth, making it suitable for sub-6 GHz 5G NR research, beamforming studies, and channel characterization. For mmWave research, we offer add-on up/down-converter modules.
Do you provide RF site surveys?
Yes, we perform comprehensive RF site surveys including signal level mapping, interference analysis, and coverage prediction modeling. This data drives our system design to ensure optimal coverage with minimal equipment. Survey results are delivered as detailed heat maps and technical reports.
Which mobile operators do you support?
Our solutions support all Belgian operators (Proximus, Orange, Telenet/BASE) and their MVNOs. For cross-border projects, we also support major French (Orange, SFR, Bouygues), Dutch (KPN, Vodafone, T-Mobile), and German (Telekom, Vodafone, O2) operators.
EU Regulatory Compliance
All our RF equipment meets European standards and regulations, ensuring legal and safe deployment.
